Staycations
Before we begin our walks together it is important for everyone to be on the same page. At our Meet and Greet your dog can meet me on their terms and understand you have welcomed me into your home. From that place of comfort they can get to know me and show me their digs and routine.
I begin each walk with a Tip to Tail check (tip of the nose to the tip of the tail) to note if there are any physical changes or needs. I then proceed with quick focusing exercises to get us on the same page before departing on our adventure. There are lots of unknown variables when walking in the city. I do my best to mitigate and eliminate as many of them as possible while remaining in constant assessment of how your dog is interacting and responding to the world on any given day. Our walks provide routine and exercise for the body, as well as for the brain, something that is incredibly important for dogs with working dog or sporting dog in their lineage. I work on curbing behavior with redirection and reinforce any training you are working on at home. We finish out our time together with a little love and fresh water. These practices and routines can greatly help reduce fear, anxiety, and stress.
Every walk consist of one household unless otherwise requested by the owner. To ensure an engaging walk for your pup, I will only use my phone to take pictures and to contact you. Additionally, I will not listen to anything while in the company of your pup. All my attention and energy will be focused on engagement and ensuring our safety and that of those around us. Although I am not a trainer, I am happy to continue to work on and reinforce anything you may be working on at home.
